About

Danny Sternfield is the assistant director on the University Communications team, enhancing the public image and reputation of UIC through media relations, storytelling and crisis management.

A seasoned communications professional with experience in higher education and expertise in working with media, Danny has held agency, corporate and brand positions. Before coming to UIC, he served as executive director of public relations at Marquee Sports Network, where he helped launch the TV network of the Chicago Cubs. Previously, Danny was director of media relations for City Colleges of Chicago, the largest community college district in Illinois and a UIC transfer partner. His career also includes roles in sports marketing; a background in amplifying nonprofits’ messages and inspiring stories; experience helping students craft college essays, resumes and cover letters; and a stint as a reporter.

He has a degree in business from Emory University, as well as an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

Fun fact: Even with five siblings, Danny had no one to play tennis with, so he hit the garage (and frustrated his parents). He now occasionally teaches the game and credits his consistency to that garage, which never missed.
