About

Allison Izguerra is the FOIA Officer and Communications Specialist at UIC, where she ensures all Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests are processed in compliance with state statutes and timeframes, demonstrating the university’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

Most recently, she worked in local government as an associate planner, overseeing residential and commercial development in a municipality of 60,000 residents. It was here that she first encountered the intricacies of FOIA regulations while serving as a FOIA officer.

Allison is a UIC alum and earned bachelor’s degrees in urban studies and anthropology. She’s also a current UIC student, pursuing her master’s degree in urban planning and policy.

As an undergrad, Allison was a student intern and later worked as an employee at UIC’s Office of Sustainability, where she deepened her interest in environmental and social responsibility.

Fun fact: Allison shares her home with six pets — three cats and three chihuahuas—which keeps life fun and full of energy!
