Guillermo Duarte is the senior public relations strategist on the University Communications team, amplifying storytelling as the spokesperson and host for a podcast and video series produced by Strategic Marketing and Communications. He also maintains media relations with local, national and global media outlets for coverage of featured UIC stories.
Guillermo joined UIC in 2018 as the communications manager for the School of Theatre and Music, where he led marketing and outreach for the school’s academic and public programs. Before joining UIC, Guillermo pioneered a communications department for Cicero School District 99, leading a rebrand and implementation of new communication tools for 16 schools. Guillermo has a master’s in strategic brand communication from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and a bachelor’s in communications and Spanish from the University of Illinois Chicago.
Fun fact: Guillermo is a deejay and a former UIC Radio host.
